DIY COPY EDITING WORKSHOP FOR HDR STUDENTS

This workshop looks at common errors made in research writing that are easily rectified by a writer. For example, many writers insert a double space after a period at the end of a sentence. The APA formatting and style guide requires a single space. Why pay a copyeditor to make corrections if you can save money and time using correct APA styles and procedure during writing? In this workshop you will be led through a comprehensive checklist that the presenter has designed as a result of his experience, which draw attention to common errors and APA requirements.

This workshop will be presented by Dr Ross James, who is an experienced journalist, writer and academic with particular skills in copyediting doctoral theses and peer-reviewed journal papers. Ross’ particular interest in copyediting papers written by researchers who have English as their second or third language comes from his work in Asia in communication for development and health promotion projects.

Refreshments will be provided.

Refunds will be processed if received prior to the closing date of 5pm Monday 17 June.
